Spent my xmas holiday at a charming onsen tucked away in the mountains. The private dining room and kaiseki meals were so worth it. After dinner laid back in the hot spring, can't think of a better way to end my day. So relaxing and warm, plus my skin felt amazing afterwards. The staff had limited English but were always helpful and accommodating.
Although it's nice being surrounded by nature, the hotel is a bit far from Nagano, with a 30-minute train ride. Nothing nearby, so not very convenient if you’re looking to explore different areas. Also there was only one staff member who spoke decent English. Could have been a bit tricky if I didn't have a language app.

Celebrating New Year in the mountains
Cool Japanese room with all traditional amenities, near the train that took us where we wanted. The best was the location with beautiful snow everywhere and a very romantic atmosphere. We didn't mind the cold because we were provided with thick blankets to stay warm. We enjoyed the hot spring with different pools for men and women to have our own space, and relaxing under the night sky.
The service was ok, but the food was really bland and not to our liking, specially for the occasion. We expected a better menu for New Year's Eve and Day.

Our stay at this hotel was exceptional from start to finish. We loved our traditional Japanese room which was spacious, clean, and perfect for a good night's sleep. The hotel facilities were amazing, and the hot springs were incredibly relaxing and perfect for unwinding after a long day. The location was ideal, despite being a bit out of the way, with easy transportation options to explore the city. The staff was extremely polite, helpful, and always eager to assist us. The breakfast was a true highlight, providing a wide variety of options, all deliciously prepared, and served in our own private room.
Nothing I didn't like to be fair.
